The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in the UK on the 25th May 2018 and affects how organisations use and store personal data.
Whilst GDPR requires ongoing compliance and best practice for those in the charity that handle personal data, iKnow Charity can help keep your charity compliant with the GDPR. By storing all your charity data in one secure system, it means data is only accessible to those who are authorised to access it within the organisation. This access is controlled by the super-user within the charity.
Those who need to access personal information for their members, teams or groups can be given that access to that part of iKnow Charity. This means they no longer have to have spreadsheets stored on their computers and then emailed between people.
All personal data stored on iKnow Charity is encrypted and you can find out more on our security page.
The Charity/legal entity is the Data Controller and iKnow Charity is the Data Processor.
The Regulation is designed to give individuals more rights on how an organisation may use their data and every organisation in the EU has to comply with these regulations.
We started planning for GDPR for back in 2017 in preparation for the new Regulation.
